BHS Control Systems is a separate division and subsidiary of the BHS Group that develops control systems for complete plants and plant units. Control technology from BHS Control Systems isn’t just used in our own plants – we use our 30 years of experience to help companies from a wide range of industries, including the milling, food and animal feed industries as well as the recycling and process industry.

Whether it is the installation of new systems or the modernization of existing systems: BHS Control Systems develops customized SCADA solutions and programmable logic controllers (PLC) for every plant to deliver transparent process visualization and an intuitive operating concept. We support you from the first design step to commissioning, training, and maintenance through to modernizations and retrofits. We provide ultra-efficient control solutions for our core markets that are perfectly adapted to meet the challenging and complex applications they require.

The origins of the company trace back to Thoma Elektrosteuerungsanlagen GmbH in Babenhausen, Germany, which was founded in 1988 by Ferdinand Thoma. After being acquired on 1 January 2020 by the international BHS-Sonthofen Group in Sonthofen, Germany, the company has since been renamed BHS Control Systems GmbH & Co. KG and is now part of the group. We have been providing our customers with tailored, personal advice for over 30 years and offer expertise and solutions in control and automation technology for a wide range of industries.

All of the components we manufacture are designed and produced in line with our customers’ requirements at our location in Babenhausen. Our proactive quality assurance measures and the comprehensive traceability of all of our components means our customers can rest assured that they are receiving unparalleled standards, functionality, and reliability.

Dr. Steffen Kämmerer has been the Managing Director of BHS Control Systems GmbH & Co. KG, which is headquartered in Sonthofen, Germany, since 1 January 2020. He is also the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the BHS-Sonthofen Group.

Team

BHS Control Systems employs a total of 15 members of staff at its Babenhausen location in Unterallgäu and the corporate headquarters in Sonthofen. All of our employees are experts, from software developers and engineers to technical support and sales specialists to administrative staff, and are the pillars of the company. Its portfolio consists of customer-specific control and automation technology with hardware and software used by grain and milling companies, in food production, for mixed feed and silo plants, and even in recycling plants.

BHS-Sonthofen is an owner-operated group of companies specialized in machinery and plant engineering with headquarters in Sonthofen, Germany. In keeping with our mission “Transforming materials into value,” we offer innovative process solutions, technologies and consulting services in the business areas Process Technology, Building Materials Machinery and Recycling & Environment. Our experts in the field of mechanical and thermal process technology with a focus on filtration, drying, mixing, crushing, and recycling form the basis for our success. On 27 April 2023, Europe's most modern organic mill officially opened its new building in the Waltersdorf industrial estate in the town of Simbach am Inn. At its in-house test center in Sonthofen, BHS Control Systems has commissioned the first plant whose control system is powered by the latest version of SIMATIC WinCC Open Architecture V3.17 from Siemens. Thanks to the new functions, the software offers enhanced security features and modern data archiving. BHS Control Systems will continue to provide full support for all existing versions.

BHS-Sonthofen acquires control technology provider Thoma

The newly founded BHS Control Systems GmbH & Co. KG acquired Thoma Elektrosteuerungsanlagen GmbH from Babenhausen, Germany, as part of an asset purchase agreement on 1 January 2020. This allowed the BHS-Sonthofen Group to significantly expand its expertise in the area of control technology. Alongside Thoma’s existing business fields, BHS Control Systems is taking on the tasks of planning and implementing plant control systems for projects undertaken by the BHS Group.
